Demonstrating that Cashfax is not just for the die-hard ‘Fax fan, Skircoat Green eaterie The Old Bakehouseis the latest Calderdale business to support Halifax RLFC as Platinum Members.
The popular and very busy sandwich bar & café situated at the junction of Skircoat Green Road and Godfrey Road, serves as a meeting place for locals as well as being an essential stop for visiting workers, particularly from the nearby hospital and schools.
Victor & Louise Wood-Ives, who live just round the corner at Manor Drive, have owned The Old Bakehouse for almost 5 years. Lou runs the business hands-on with her 5 members of staff, while Vic combines the bookkeeping and paperwork with his full-time job as an electrician.
“With me working shifts and the shop open 6 days a week, most of our time off together is spent at the Cash & Carry!” joked Vic. “Sunday is often our only day together, and up to recently the mornings were spent cheering on our son Seb playing down at Heath RU. We’re looking forward to getting to a match as part of our membership as soon as it’s possible though, and we might easily end up hooked!”
Platinum Members receive an invitation to a VIP day with Cashfax at a home fixture as one of their member benefits, together with a certificate of appreciation which will proudly hang in the Old Bakehouse as a show of their support.
“We might not be the biggest fans from an attendance point of view, but always want the Club to do well, and I used to look forward to hearing from our customers how they’ve gone on every Monday” added Lou.
“So many of them have remarked what a shame it is that this season was cut so short and how they are missing their fix, so if we can show our support in just this small way then we are very happy to do so. And if we can pick up a prize or two whilst doing that all the better!”
